Kanye West
Singer/producer/songwriter Kanye West has broken the music mold. He has released three albums, and won nine Grammy Awards during his short career. He has performed and produced rap music, been involved in both Christian and soul genres, and influenced rappers/soul singers including the popular Jay-Z.
Kanye West has been in the gossip section of magazines, mostly from comments that have appeared to be politically incorrect (such as his infamous Hurricane Katrina comment). These have not affected his popularity adversely however, judging by the amount of money he has earned from album sales, touring opportunities, and production prospects.
Although Kanye West has experienced tragedy in his personal life with the recent loss of his mother and a break-up with his fiancée, he has used the incidents to learn and put them to good use in his music. The song he wrote in honor of his mother he has since performed at the Grammy Awards. He will continue to be an influential, if controversial, part of the music community
