A parody of old monster movies, Young Frankenstein tells the story of the mad scientist, Frederick Frankenstein, an esteemed New York brain surgeon who inherits a castle in Transylvania from his grandfather, Dr. Victor von Frankenstein. His tightly-wound fiancée, Elizabeth sees off Froderick.

In the city of Transylvania Heights, he meets his grandfather's hunchback henchman, Igor. Igor has hired the services of Inga, a yodeling lab assistant with a degree from the local community college. The forbidding housekeeper of the castle is Frau "horse whinny" Blücher.
